Why Secretary Kim: Prologue [English Translation]

Chapter 0: Prologue

    Caribbean Lounge swimming pool, Geuk-dong Hotel, October 31, 22:30 o'clock.

    Soft lights were reflected and radiated on the hotel's pool surface. On the stage, a jazz singer was singing Ella Fitzgerald's 'Misty' in a somewhat gloomy voice, and some famous people including some celebrities were chatting in front of the cocktail bar.

    In a separate place from the stage and swimming pool, to be precise, on the 2nd floor, there was a closed place with the highest level of privacy. Today, the person who occupied that room, which could only be ordered by the most important person among these important people, was the vice president of the company, whom for the last 5 years had never been in under fifth position among the 10 best companies in Korea, Yoo-il Group's Lee Young-joon.

    Lee Young-joon— the second son of Yoo-il Group's owner, President Lee, who had long been sickly, had been in control of the company for the past 7 years. Since childhood, Lee Young-joon was a special person. Even the saying "God is fair" didn't seem to be valid at all for this 33 years old man. 

    Young-joon laid on a high quality Italian leather sofa, to be more precise, it was to show off his perfect body proportions. As soon as he was finished with his work, he immediately came to this place wearing a black suit. The stiff and formal clothes design could not hide his solid and sexy body, and also his long legs. Like a shining jaguar laying on the marble, all his body was filled with wild and sensual aura.

    Not only his body was extraordinary. His eyebrows were thick and smooth and dark colored like a painting brush, under his eyebrows were a pair of beautiful eyes with black pupils, sharp and pronounced nose, along with thick lips like a real man. His appearance was absolutely without any flaws.

    However, it was not everything. If he only had a flawless appearance, perhaps people would not be this jealous of him. Lee Young-joon was also unmatchable in terms of capabilities.

    Academic scores, sports and playing musical instruments had all been mastered by him. After completing his education in Korea, he continued his studies in the States before preparing himself to be the successor of Yoo-il Group. 2 years later when he came back from abroad, he succeeded the company and took control of the company management, did a big scale reorganization and reorganizing the personnel management. In contrast to his father, who ran a big business but without a definite target, he had a rather aggressive and courageous moves, and as a result, he managed to achieve a brilliant company performance.

    A gift that came from God. An extraordinary work that seemed to be made by God for three days and three nights while sipping a high-caffeine energy drink. That work was a human named Lee Young-joon.

    "Oppa*, why are you not talking much today? Is there any problem?"

(*T/N: 오빠 Oppa means Older brother (of a younger female). Not only siblings can call it, but people who are close to each other or is dating each other can too as this can be regarded as a love term calling the older boyfriend. But I'm sure if you're a K-drama fan, you must have got a hang of it long ago ;))

    Likewise his high position, Young-joon's relations were very broad that he was surrounded by people every day. The people who attended his private party today were his business partners, as well as five beautiful women working in different fields, including models. Out of five beautiful women, one of them was Oh Ji-ran, who had been dating Young-joon for the past month. Oh Ji-ran exclaimed while showing a sullen expression.

    "Young-joon Oppa! Why are you not talking much today??"

    At that moment, the youngest son of Geuk-dong Hotel interrupted as he stretched out his hand,  "Which beautiful women here wants to knock Oh Ji-ran's senses back?"

    "Geez, Oppa, what are you talking about?"

    "If Young-joon doesn't talk much, of course you should think 'Ah, our Ophwa* doesn't talk much today, maybe something had happened' then shut up and just enjoy your drink. Why are you so insensitive?"

(*T/N: Ophwa= Oppa, he's making fun of her pronunciation LOL.)

    "Well, what's the problem?"

    Ji-ran sat on Young-joon's lap with a face full of charm. The overalls she wore were a low v-neckline so that her big chest started to show. At once, the men around him casted their glaces towards Ji-ran with sparkling eyes.

    However, Young-joon didn't seem to show any interest in Ji-ran or the people around him. He was silent for 2 hours with a serious expression, seeming to be thinking about something.

    The people present at the party had noticed it from the very start because Young-joon looked different from his usual playful and confident manner. They kept the atmosphere by leaving Young-joon alone, but Ji-ran was completely insensitive and kept bothering him.

    "Oppa...."

    Then after two and a half hours, Young-joon moved his lips for the first time.

    "Hm? What did say, Oppa?"

    "Why...."

    "I can't hear you—"

    Ji-ran's eyes widened and she put her chest in front of Young-joon. Instantaneously, Young-joon looked at her with gloomy eyes, frowned his forehead and spat out his first clear word.

    "Move it away."

    "What?"

    "I said, get outta here."

    Hearing Young-joon's cold words, Ji-ran was surprised. She was moving backwards until she finally fell off of the sofa and landed on her butt.

    "O-oppa...."

    "Ugh! This is driving me nuts."

    Young-joon ruffled his hair and let out a breath, then muttered, "Secretary Kim...."

    Even though we currently lived in a world, where we could appeal even after receiving death sentence, for Lee Young-joon, there was no 'second chance' in both his work and personal life matters. If he had sentenced a person to death, then it was really over. So, it was only natural that he didn't have employees working around him for a long period of time. Since the first day Lee Young-joon held the position of vice president until this moment, the only remaining employees were Yoo-il's managing director, Park Yoo-shik, and Young-jun's personal secretary, Kim Mi-so.

    Secretary Kim?

    Seeing Young-joon's condition, which had been gloomy since earlier, it could be ascertained that this problem was a very big problem. The tension gradually melted a little. The guests at the party swallowed hard while holding back their curiosity about the story Young-joon would tell them.

    However, what Young-joon said was not something surprising, rather a very simple question. It could not be assured who was it aimed to.

    "Why did... Secretary Kim do that?"

    What kind of strange question was he suddenly asking?

    People's faces around him showed their disappointment all at once.
